An FPL fixture ticker with separate attack and defence ratings

A single fixture difficulty rating (FDR) hides a lot. A club can face a side that scores freely but defends badly, which is a good fixture for its forwards and a poor one for its defenders. This ticker rates each Premier League fixture three ways: overall, for attack (goals the club is expected to score) and for defence (the chance of a clean sheet).

Ratings run from 1, very favourable, to 5, very difficult, and are set so that about a third of fixtures sit in the middle band. Order the table by kindest run to find clubs to buy from, or by hardest run to find players to sell. A gameweek with two fixtures for a club is a double and counts twice; one with none is a blank.

Frequently asked questions

What is FDR in FPL?

Fixture difficulty rating: a score from 1 to 5 for how hard a fixture is, 1 being the easiest. FPL publishes one rating per club for each fixture; this ticker also rates fixtures from our match predictions, separately for attack and defence.

How is this different from FPL's fixture difficulty rating?

FPL gives each fixture one rating per club. Here attack and defence are rated separately from expected goals and clean-sheet chance, so a fixture can be kind for a striker and hard for a goalkeeper. FPL's own rating is available as a fourth view.

What does Estimate mean on a fixture?

Our full match prediction is published about six days before kick-off. For fixtures further ahead the rating uses each club's attacking and defensive strength alone, and the figure is labelled Estimate.
